Our Fairmont Royal Pavilion Staycation: A Pink Paradise

Last week, the bf & I decided to celebrate my birthday with a staycation at one of the most iconic hotels in Barbados—Fairmont Royal Pavilion. This wasn't just any stay; we had the rare privilege of staying in the Junior One Bedroom Suite at the villa. With only one villa on the property, we knew we were in for something special, and oh, was it spectacular!

First Impressions: Pink Dream Come True

If you know me, you know that pink is my favourite colour, so this was already shaping up to be my kind of spot. From the well-maintained grounds to the impeccable design choices I knew we had made the right choice for our mini retreat.  The villa was tucked away in a secluded area, giving us the perfect blend of privacy and beachfront luxury.

The Suite Life: Butler Service & Bubble Baths

Let’s talk about the room! The Junior One Bedroom Suite had everything we could want: a spacious bedroom, a luxe bathroom with a tub (big enough for two)

From the moment we arrived, we were pampered by our dedicated butler,  who ensured everything was perfect, right down to the celebratory birthday surprise—a beautiful chocolate cake that made the afternoon extra sweet!  They also helped to arrange an in-room couples massage for us from a pair of truly talented masseurs!

(P.s. the butlers offer way more services than we used but they did an incredible job steaming a particularly tricky dress for me so I’ll be forever grateful! )

For a short stay like ours, a butler may not be necessary but it certainly elevates the experience and will the Villa being a little secluded its nice to know that there’s always someone on call.

Dining Delight: Taboras & Palm Terrace

On our first night, we dined at Taboras* I have to say, the crab cakes and steak we ordered were some of the best we’ve ever had. Seriously, if you’re a steak lover like me, you need to put Taboras on your list! The service was impeccable, with the staff attentive but never intrusive.

We started each morning with breakfast at the Palm Terrace Restaurant, which is not only beautiful but offers one of the best dining views you could ask for. There's something about starting your day with delicious food and that Caribbean breeze flowing around you.

 Birthday Dinner at QP Bistro

For my birthday night, we wanted something a little off-property, so we ventured to QP Bistro for an early sunset dinner. The ambience there is unbeatable, with those warm golden and pink rays of the sunset lighting up the restaurant. I went for the crab and shrimp cakes, followed by baby back ribs with mashed potatoes. Every bite was divine, and the service was flawless. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate.

A Memorable Celebration

Between the incredible service, breathtaking views, and small touches like that birthday cake surprise, the Fairmont Royal Pavilion went above and beyond to make our staycation unforgettable. From the first step into our villa to the last view of the beach as we packed to leave, this stay felt like the ultimate Caribbean luxury escape.

 Hotel Rating: Fairmont Royal Pavilion

- Overall Aesthetics: 10/10

(That pink colour, the stunning grounds, and the beachfront vibe—perfection!)

- Location:10/10

- Facilities: 8/10

(Everything you need for a luxury escape, including butler service and in-room massages. We may have missed the official tour or explaination of everything going on the hotel but I could see getting a little restless if was there for an extended stay)

- Beach/Pool: 8.5/10

(Nice beach, we didnt spend a ton of time on it, but it wasnt very large and I could early see it feeling overcrowded during busy season.the pool was beautiful but also nothing special)

- Food: 8/10

(The food at Taboras was exquisite, especially the steak. Dinner seemed extremely expensive to us for what we had. As much as we enjoyed the meal the value for money seemed off here.  The buffet breakfast was fairly standard and quiet enjoyable)

- Service: 10/10

From the butler service to the restaurant staff, everyone was friendly and professional. Every single team member we interacted with was absolutely lovely

- Room Features:10/10

The suite was spacious, and luxurious, and offered stunning views. The shower was glorious, and all the shower amenities felt high-end and luxurious. I will always love a bathroom with a separate water closet.(it’s things like that that help to keep the romance alive if you know what I mean! So many hotels seem to think a bathtub for one is sufficient or have the dreaded bathtub shower combo ( gross), so this bath was truly a breath of fresh air,

The seating area on the balcony was wonderful private and spacious and the internal seating area was also just the right size.

- Bed Comfort:10/10

(We had the best sleep thanks to the plush, comfy bed.)

- Likelihood to Repeat: 10/10

(I would stay here again in a heartbeat!)

This staycation has been one for the books, and I’m already dreaming of our next island escape! If you’re ever in Barbados or looking to experience the beauty of the Caribbean, Fairmont Royal Pavilion is a pink paradise you won’t want to miss.
